IMD declares heatwave warning in Telangana, temperature to rise further

Soon after Andhra Pradesh witnessed a three-day heat wave last week, the Meteorological Department has reportedly issued a heat wave warning for April 17 for all districts of Telangana. Temperatures across many parts of the state are likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius and are expected to stay above 40 degree Celsius in many places of the state. On Friday, Hyderabad reportedly recorded 40.8 degree Celsius, while Adilabad, Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad witnessed the highest temperature at 43 degree Celsius. According to the Times of India, the temperature is likely to rise next week because of a cyclonic storm has been brewing in the southwest Bay of Bengal, which feeds off moisture in its surroundings. The cyclonic storm, is dubbed 'Mora'."With the evaporation of moisture content, the atmosphere over the land will become dry, resulting in increasing temperature levels. Rayalaseema and Telangana besides the interior parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh will become hotter next week,” IMD Director (Forecast) K Naga Ratna told TOI. The Deccan Chronicle reported that  the low pressure area is expected to concentrate into a depression during the next 24 hours and intensify further, subsequently. However, the system is likely to away from the Andhra coast towards Bangladesh or Myanmar. Authorities in Telangana and Andhra have prepared an action plan to prevent deaths due to heat wave.
