Another case of triple talaq has come to light from Hyderabad with a man allegedly divorcing his wife over the phone after he sold her to a sheikh in Saudi Arabia. The 23-year-old victim, Saira Banu, a resident of old city in Hyderabad received the news when she was in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Saira’s mother Banu Begum has filed a complaint at the Shah Ali Banda Police Station against her son-in-law for divorcing her daughter after he allegedly trafficked her to Riyadh. The accused has been identified as Omar, husband of Saira. Banu Begum has also alleged that Omar sold her to a sheikh in Saudi. “My son-in-law divorced my daughter in order to sell her to a sheikh in Saudi Arabia. The sheikh is harassing my daughter and has been cruel to her,“ Banu Begum said in the complaint quoted by Times of India. “We have received the complaint on Saturday, we are still investigating whether she went willingly or she was sent forcibly by her husband,” Inspector Lingaiah told TNM. Saira fell in love with Omar and got married on February 2014. A few days into their marriage, Omar along with his family members allegedly started harassing and beating Saira. Saira Banu landed in Riyadh on May 2. Banu claimed that Omar along with a local agent name Hajira, sent her on a visit visa saying she would be paid Rs 50,000 if she worked as a house maid in Saudi Arabia for one month. According to TOI, Saira recently called her husband saying that the sheikh has been making her work day and night and she wanted to return. It was then Omar allegedly told her that he had divorced her.
