Many citizens, who had borne the brunt of the 2016 floods, were irked by witnessing a repeat of the situation this year.

Life was thrown out of gear for several Hyderabad residents on Wednesday and Thursday as heavy rain lashed the city. In a familiar sight, roads were soon inundated, even as water began entering households in areas like Malkajgiri and Uppal.  The situation soon turned from bad to worse, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deploying teams on boats, for relief and rescue operations. (Image: PTI) Many of these citizens, who had borne the brunt of the 2016 floods, were irked by witnessing a repeat of the situation this year.  Most pointed fingers at poor urban planning, and complained that authorities including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) did not act, even though they were aware about the situation. (Image: PTI) (An uprooted tree in Banjara Hills) While it continued to rain on Thursday, Friday bought some respite for citizens, as the rain slowed down. The Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) warning is in place till Friday evening. @hydcitypolice instead of catching people without helmets catch those politicians who made this fate to a tax payers house. #HyderabadRains pic.twitter.com/xwlnZh0BCn — raghu ramthirdh (@raghuramgntr) September 14, 2017 I spent rs 60k to increase floor height after sept 16 floods.
