Cyberabad police crack kidnap case of toddler within a day, arrest labourer

The Cyberabad Police cracked a kidnap case within an hour and arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping a 20-month old baby girl in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally area on Saturday. The girl’s father, a car driver, had lodged a complaint with the Kukatpally police station, stating that the baby girl was kidnapped while playing near her house in the morning. "There was a CCTV camera installed near the crime spot. After verifying the footage we noticed a person carrying a little girl. We identified the person as M Naga Raju, a stone cutting labourer. We went to his house and found the baby," sub-inspector of Kukatpally police station, P Anil Kumar told PTI. The PTI report added that the accused was in an inebriated condition when he was caught and an investigation was ongoing. Meanwhile, another kidnapping case was reported in the city near Shamshabad. The police launched a hunt for a 30-year-old woman, after she allegedly kidnapped her neighbour’s relative’s baby. “On the pretext of buying clothes for the child, she escaped with the child while they were shopping… We are examining CCTV footage and also consulting the woman’s relatives located in the city and neighbouring states,” M Mahesh, Inspector, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police, told Telangana Today.  Last week, the Cyberabad police cracked the kidnap case of four-year-old Nagesh, who went missing from Attapur a fortnight ago, by nabbing an auto driver who was trying to sell the child for Rs 1 lakh. The Rajendranagar police said that they arrested Sunkara Gangaiah (29) from Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh’s Ananatapur district. According to the police, the accused was a ’quack’, selling roadside medicine, along with some ayurvedic medicines, after erecting small tents by the road. PV Padmaja, DCP, Shamshabad, said, "Since his income was very meagre, he decided to earn money by selling children, and was waiting for an opportunity to kidnap them."
