A widely shared image shows that a bread packet with October 5 as the manufacturing date was sold on October 4.
The image that went viral
Hyderabad's famous Karachi Bakery faced the wrath of customers online after a goof-up went viral.
An image uploaded on Twitter on Wednesday, October 4, showed a bread packet from the bakery which claimed that the manufacturing date of the bread was October 5.
The incident is reported to have happened at the bakery's head branch, located opposite Moazzam Jahi Market. However, it was packaged at the bakery’s unit in Uppal.
By Wednesday night, the bakery had released a statement on the incident, and blamed a 'typographical error'.
The original post, however, immediately began going viral and was shared across Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp groups."Shelf life begin from tomorrow, sold today. Hats off," one user wrote on Facebook."They are actually playing with our health and life as we believe in the quality mark and labels. Customers should request the concerned authorities to check the labels and products on war footing basis to punish the culprits," another added.

There were reports of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation raiding the bakery, but Assistant Medical Officer of Health of GHMC's Uppal circle Dr Gowri Uma told TNM that they did not conduct a raid."We did not conduct a raid as it is being reported in the media. It was more of a checking. A team visited the outlet after the picture went viral on social media to look at the possibility of expired food or any items packaged in a similar way. No such violation was found. It seems that it was just a typo like they claim,” she said.
