After being detained during yatra, TJAC chairman Kodandram vows to expose KCR govt’s failures

TJAC chairman Prof Kodandram has hit out at CM KCR, saying that the regressive acts of the government will not stop him from reaching out to the people to expose the government’s failures. Prof Kodandram was on his way to participate in the sixth phase of Telangana Martyrs Spoorthi Yatra, when he was detained in Narapally by police on Sunday.  The TJAC chairman along with his 400 TJAC leaders, were detained for more than six hours and their phones were seized, reported The Times of India. Although Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Rao had instructed police not to disrupt the yatra, many of the TJAC leaders were picked up by the Task force personnel from several locations before the yatra began, reported Deccan Chronicle. Post his release, addressing the media, Kodandram said that the undemocratic arrest has further toughened their resolve to fight the high-handedness of the KCR-led government.    Kodandram recalled the earlier remarks of KCR, who had said that not even 500 people will attend the TJAC meetings.  Expressing amusement, he said, “Why is the TRS government using police force to stop me and other leaders from meeting people if it thinks I do not have public support?” according to TOI. Lashing out at KCR for detaining him and the JAC members, he said that he would bring the regressive acts of the government to curtail their protest, to the notice of the President and Governor. He said the government cannot go back on the promise of providing   two lakh jobs to the youth. Condemning the incident, TDP Telangana working president, A Revanth Reddy, said that the government had gone back on its word that no one would disrupt the yatra. Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao said that KCR is scared of Kodandram and hence is resorting to such regressive acts. The TJAC chairman started this yatra in August to highlight the failures of the government. And this was not the first instance of the government using police to stop his yatra.   Both Kodandram and KCR who had worked together for the creation of Telangana state had a fallout, after KCR assumed the post of Chief Minister.
