TRS MP K Kavitha on Friday defended Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that it was a 'slip of the tongue'. The Nizamabad MP also slammed the BJP for blowing a small issue out of proportion.  “PM Narendra Modi claimed in Davos that he was elected by 600 crore people, when the population of India is 130 crore. Did we make an issue out of that? One must have the open mind to understand what is a slip of the tongue. He (KCR) did not mean to insult the PM. The BJP has no serious issues to talk about, so it is trying to make a big issue,” she was quoted as saying. Kavitha's comments came a day after Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that she was upset about KCR using a particular Telugu word for PM Modi. She told reporters in Hyderabad that though the Chief Minister's son KT Rama Rao conveyed to her that it was a slip of the tongue, she felt that the clarification should have come from the Chief Minister himself."He spoke in detail. He said it was a slip of the tongue. He also said he doesn't think his father would have spoken in that manner," the Central Minister said. Addressing a public meeting in Karimnagar on Sunday, KCR hit out at Modi for ignoring farmers in the Union Budget 2018-19. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief said that there is no difference between the policies of Modi and the Congress party. While criticising Modi, the Chief Minister reportedly used a Telugu word, which the BJP says was disrespectful to the Prime Minister."During his last speech in Karimnagar, he used Telugu words such as "vaadu", "veedu", "gaadu", which are highly objectionable and condemnable," the BJP leaders had said.  IANS inputs
