Citizens in Hyderabad received some respite from the heat on Friday as the city received around 3 cm of rainfall.
Several areas witnessed showers, including Gachibowli, Hafeezpet, Kukatpally, SR Nagar, Yousufguda, Secunderabad and Alwal.
Areas like Khairatabad, Begumpet and Trimulgherry also witnessed heavy rainfall.
Officials of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the rainfall was a result of thunderstorm activity.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also deployed monsoon teams to clear water logging on the roads and clear the traffic jams, which were a result of the showers.
The IMD also put out a two-day warning as monsoon resurfaced in the state."Thunderstorm associated with heavy rain and gusty winds very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana," the warning read.
According to media reports, Medak recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 6.23 cm, followed by 6 cm in Cheekode in Siddipet district, while areas in Kamareddy and Warangal also witnessed moderate showers.
The GHMC is taking no chances ahead of the monsoon in the city as it is undertaking a massive drive to demolish old and dilapidated structures in the city.
The municipal body added that it was also taking up other activities as part of monsoon preparedness activities, like obtaining opinion on structural safety from Engineering Department, counselling the inmates to vacate the dilapidated structure from a human safety point of view and barricading buildings in some cases and cautioning public against moving around the structure.
Stating that it has deployed teams ready to tackle waterlogging, inundation and other problems that low lying areas could face this monsoon, the GHMC also said that several enforcement drives were conducted to remove encroachments on drains.
The GHMC has also deployed teams with all necessary equipment for road repairs and for dewatering low lying areas with pump sets if there is waterlogging.
