The poor condition of roads in Hyderabad claimed yet another life when a 33-year-old private employee fell from his bike after he lost control while attempting to avoid a damaged stretch on the road.  The accident occurred in the wee hours on Sunday near Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL).  Harikrishna, while driving his bike noticed a damaged portion in the middle of the road and applied sudden brake, at the junction near DRDL in front of Mytri Wines. It was reported that both Harikrishna and pillion rider Balakrishna were wearing helmets but Harikrishna had not strapped on his helmet, which came off during the accident. He suffered a head injury and died on the spot, while his friend Balakrishna survived with fractures. Sub-inspector K. Ravi told Deccan Chronicle, "We are verifying the details of the case. Based on the PME and further inquiry, we will proceed.” This is the fourth death in the city due to bad roads since September. Last month, a 25-year-old student, Bora Arun Kumar, died on the spot after he fell from the bike when his cousin applied the brakes at the Kukatpally Y-junction to avoid hitting another scooter. In September, a 31-year-old software engineer D Ramakrishna Reddy died when he was returning home from work and hit the divider at Road No 2 in Banjara Hills while trying to avoid a pothole.  Vinod Kumar Kanumala, founder of the Indian Federation of Road Safety had then said, “16 to 18 per cent of the accidents happening in Hyderabad are due to potholes or bad infrastructure.” Also read: Hyd techie dies allegedly due to pothole, experts blame poor road maintenance
