A businessman was robbed by five people pretending to be task force police, while he was going to attend a funeral at Armoor in Telangana's Nizamabad district. Siddamsetty Santosh Kumar, a businessman from Armoor filed a complaint with the Bollaram police station on Friday night, alleging that the gang looted Rs 19 lakh from him. The incident took place after the victim got a call from his cousin, Mahesh, about the latter’s father’s death. Mahesh asked Santosh to collect money from Anil, who is a resident of Alwal. With his friend Venugopal, Santosh collected the money at a petrol pump in Alwal, and Anil was supposed to meet them again near Alwal vegetable market, before they left for Armoor. However, while waiting at the market, Santosh and Venogopal were reportedly approached by five people who claimed to be task force police. The New Indian Express reported that the conmen took the money and asked them to collect it from the police station, as they did not carry a receipt to account for the cash. Santosh realised that he has been looted after he reached the police station, and lodged a complaint. The Bollaram police is investigating the case.
