Qatar Airways flight makes emergency landing in Hyderabad as passenger dies on board

A Ukranian passenger who was travelling via a Qatar Airways flight reportedly passed away after a heart stroke. The Doha-Bangkok flight was then diverted to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad, where doctors examined the passenger and declared her brought dead. According to media reports, the passenger, identified as Galyna Konkina, was found 'unresponsive and unconscious' in the flight at around 1.30 am on Tuesday. She was said to have a history of heart ailment and had even undergone a bypass surgery several years ago. On finding her unresponsive in the flight, the crew had reportedly carried out pulmonary resuscitation, but to no avail. The RGIA police said that Galyna's body was handed over to her cousin, Sulyha Olha, who was travelling with her on the same flight. After the emergency landing at Hyderabad, the flight later continued on its journey. Qatar Airways expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased. This is not the first time that a plane has landed at the Hyderabad airport, owing to a medical emergency.  Just earlier this year, in May, a woman from the Philippines delivered a baby girl inside a Manila-bound flight after it made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The woman, who worked in Saudi Arabia, was 35 weeks pregnant and her due date was three weeks away, but she developed labour pain soon after take-off.   A team of doctors and nurses from Apollo Cradle were informed in advance and present at the airport before the flight landed at Hyderabad.
