Ayodhya verdict
Although the Hyderabad police denied permission, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders will go ahead with the protest anyway.
In what could put pressure on the Hyderabad police, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) — as a part of the ongoing TSRTC employees’ strike — has called for a huge protest at the Tank bund on Saturday, which is also the day India awaits the Ayodhya verdict. The RTC protest seeks to recreate the ‘million march’ of the Telangana movement, where a large number of people had gathered to protest on Tank Bund. The Hyderabad police have denied permission for the proposed march, but the JAC leaders have announced that they will go ahead with the protest anyway. Tank Bund would be closed for traffic from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday. Police have said that a protest march in the heart of the city could create law and order problems. Police have also started making preventive arrests of employees' leaders in various parts of the state. The indefinite strike by over 48,000 employees entered the 35th day on Friday. They continued protests in Hyderabad and 32 other districts to press for their demands. Meanwhile, security has also been beefed up ahead of the Ayodhya verdict as Hyderabad has seen communal riots in the past between Hindus and Muslims. There was also mild violence in the city when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992. (Note: Please wait for a few moments for the live blog to load. Protest
The Hyderabad police had denied permission for the ‘Chalo Tank Bund’ protest, barricading several roads.
The 'Chalo Tank Bund' protest, called by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee (TSRTC JAC), turned violent on Saturday after police lathicharged protesters. The JAC, which is a collective of TSRTC unions, chose to defy police orders denying permission for the protest, and marched towards Ambedkar Circle in Tank Bund, Hyderabad. Retaliating to the lathicharge, protestors allegedly pelted stones at the police personnel, injuring a few. Police also allegedly pelted stones and used tear gas to disperse the crowd. The TSRTC JAC had given a call for 'Chalo Tank Bund' to protest against Telangana Chief Minister K Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the ongoing strike. The protest was supported by opposition parties including Congress, BJP, TJS, CPI, CPI (M) and several others. Saturday marks the 36th day of the ongoing strike.  However, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar had denied permission for the protest. Roads leading to Tank Bund were closed on Saturday and fortified with barbed wires, barricades and several police checkpoints. Around 100 protestors coming from Liberty circle, however, managed to breach the security and confronted the police at Basheerbagh. The protestors were warned of action if they did not disperse. However, they remained defiant, which resulted in a lathicharge. Police then forcibly detained scores of protestors including women and took them to police stations in various parts of the city. But even as police detained one set of protesters, another wave of striking employees attempted to storm Tank Bund.  With opposition parties also supporting the strike, the Telangana police on Friday night began rounding up district leaders of the BJP and the Congress who were heading towards Tank Bund.   The state president of the Telangana BJP K Laxman has been under house arrest since Saturday morning. “He was to take part in the protest, he is still under illegal detention. He was supposed to participate and address the rally at tank bund. A lot of leaders from across districts have been taken into preventive custody. About 60 to 70 of our leaders coming from the districts have been detained from their homes since yesterday (Friday) night. Going by the pattern of how K Chandrashekar Rao throttles the opposition’s voice this was along the expected lines,” alleged Krishna Saagar Rao, BJP state spokesperson.  Speaking to TNM, Congress leader Dr Sravan Dasoju said their party is in support of the protesting RTC staff. “The working president of the Congress Ponnam Prabhakar and several other leaders are under house arrest. Several of our district leaders have also been detained by the police from last night. We don’t have an exact count at the moment,” he said.  Plans have been afoot to hold the 'Chalo Tank Bund' protest, akin to the Million March protest held during the Telangana agitation in 2011. The decision to hold a massive rally was taken at a public meeting held by TSRTC staff at the Saroornagar Stadium on October 30 as the government did not concede to their demands of merging the TSRTC with the government.  Million March was one of the most violent protests in the history of Telangana agitation as the protestors torched the OB Van of a news channel and a police jeep; and damaged a few police vehicles. Statues of several Telugu icons located on the Tank Bund were then allegedly vandalized by the protestors. With Inputs from Mithun MK

The 'Chalo Tank Bund' march as part of the ongoing strike by the TSRTC employees turned violent on Saturday as police and protesters clashed in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Saturday claimed that frontal organisations of Maoists were involved in the violence that took place during a protest march by striking employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) in the city. The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of employees unions had called for a 'Chalo Tank Bund' march as part of the ongoing strike by the TSRTC employees which entered its 36th day on Saturday.  Anjani Kumar claimed that besides the members of the RTC unions, some frontal organisations of Maoists and other parties were involved in stone pelting incidents at 7-8 places, causing injuries to senior police officials including an Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and two Assistant Commissioners of Police. He said though the police had refused permission for the march, activists of RTC unions, and cadres from CPI (ML) New Democracy cadres and others in large numbers tried to enter Tank Bund."Police tried to stop them but they pelted stones and as a result several police officers were injured," he said. The police chief said that the police lathi-charged to disperse the violent mob and prevent further violence. He said the police would register cases against those involved in the violence and take firm action. JAC leaders said some protesters suffered bleeding injuries. The police were also seen manhandling women protesters in the chaos and even used tear gas to disperse the crowd at one point. Around 48,000 employees of the RTC have been on strike in Telangana for over a month now. Their key demand is to merge the TSRTC with the government, which is being vehemently opposed by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Days after four people from the same family died due to dengue within a span of 15 days in Telangana, the High Court pulled up the state government and asked it to file a fresh affidavit explaining concrete steps undertaken by it to tackle the health crisis. Terming the earlier affidavit filed by the Telangana government as 'vague', the High Court asked the government to file a fresh affidavit by November 14.     A bench comprising Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy was hearing PILs filed by Dr M Karuna and advocate Rapolu Bhaskar, who had urged the court to issue orders to the Telangana government to tackle the menace of dengue. After hearing all sides, the case was posted to November 15 for further hearing.  The court had earlier even summoned Telangana Chief Secretary SK Joshi and Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration & Urban Development) Arvind Kumar, along with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and pulled them up over the crisis. The state saw a massive dengue crisis in September, and is still reeling from its effects, even as cases continue to be reported.  The state-run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad alone saw a 1,027 cases of dengue in September, compared to just 252 in August. As of October 21, the hospital has seen 424 positive cases and the death of five children.   The High Court had earlier also asked the government to set up a committee headed by the chief secretary and take steps on war-footing to control the mosquito menace. The foods centres aim to provide hygienic and healthy food to students, patients and their attendants at government hospitals in Nizamabad, Armoor and Bodhan.
A free meal distribution scheme launched by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and former Nizamabad MP K Kavitha has completed two years. The scheme, being overseen by Kavitha who is funding it out of her own pocket, aims to provide hygienic and healthy food to students, patients and their attendants at government hospitals in Nizamabad, Armoor and Bodhan. A statement from her office said that Kavitha first launched a free food distribution centre at the Nizamabad Government General Hospital (GGH) for patients and their attendants, which completed two years, and other food centres in Armoor and Bodhan have been operating successfully since then."Every day, thousands of patients come to government hospitals for treatment from Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Nirmal, Nanded, and surrounding areas. Though food is provided to patients, their attendants and other outpatients face problems and can't get a meal often. Attendants spend hundred rupees on food every time they visit hospitals," the statement added. Keeping this in mind, Kavitha launched the first centre on November  8, 2017 at Nizamabad GGH. A free food centre at the Bodhan Government Hospital was later launched on April 26, 2018,  while one at Government hospital Armoor was launched on July 5, 2018. The second centre in Nizamabad was launched at the City library on July 15, 2018."Every day, about 600 to 900 patients who get admitted in the hospital are fed at the Nizamabad hospital, while about 300-400 patients are fed in Bodhan and Armoor government hospitals and over 200 people at the Central library in Nizamabad," Kavitha's office stated. An employee of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) was seriously injured, after she was allegedly beaten by a policeman during a protest in Hyderabad on Saturday. TSRTC employees, who have been on strike for over a month, had planned to lay siege to Tank Bund, situated in the heart of the city. Authorities had denied permission and beefed up security. As things escalated, police used batons and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. Some protesters pelted stones at the police. A video doing the rounds on social media shows the woman, crying in pain, as a large number of people are gathered around her, holding her nose with a cloth and standing by with water. In the foreground, some protesters are seen arguing with the police even as others who had gathered filmed the dispute.    A police officer is seen asking the protesters to back off and even seen using his baton on one man as others are heard saying that he was the one who hit the woman. She was injured on her nose and also received slight injuries on her forehead. Visuals of another woman, who was also injured on her hand during the protests, also circulated on social media. "I was going back from the side, but a policeman chased me and hit me repeatedly," the woman told a local media outlet. When contacted, the police refused to offer a comment.  However, when asked by a reporter on Saturday evening about police injuring women protesters, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that they could not 'jump to conclusions' based on photos and added that they would enquire into the issue.  Anjani Kumar also claimed that frontal organisations of Maoists were involved in Saturday's violence. The police chief said the police baton-charged to disperse a 'violent' mob and prevent further violence. He said the police would register cases against those involved in the violence and take firm action. The strike by over 48,000 TSRTC employees entered the 36th day on Saturday. Their demands include merger of TSRTC with the government. However, taking a tough stand, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government rejected the demand for merger and even announced privatisation of half of the TSRTC routes. Though the Telangana High Court on Thursday directed the state government to take the initiative to resolve the employees' demands, no end to the stalemate appears in sight as both sides are sticking to their stand. 'How can a person who demolished your house now own it?': Owaisi on Ayodhya verdict

Owaisi was addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday night on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi.
File photo: AIMIM
Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday asked why senior BJP leader L K Advani was being tried for the demolition of Babri Masjid, if the structure was illegal. Owaisi wondered how a person who demolished somebody's house can get the same house. Addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, Owaisi found fault with the Supreme Court judgment in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case and reiterated that the 'Supreme Court is supreme but not infallible'."If a person demolishes your house and if you go to an arbitrator and he gives your house to the person who demolished it and tells you that you will be given an alternate land at some other place, how'd you feel?" he asked. Owaisi said that his basic question is that why Advani and others who demolished Babri Masjid were being tried if the mosque was illegal. "If Babri Masjid was legal, then how can Advani and others get the land?" he asked. Owaisi slammed those criticising him for not accepting the judgment, saying he has a democratic right to oppose it. The MP alleged that Muslims were insulted by offering them five acres of alternate land."Babri Masjid is our legal right. We were not fighting for the land. We don't want anything in charity. Don't treat us like beggars. We are respected citizens of this country," he said. Owaisi thanked the lawyers who represented the Muslim side in the Supreme Court. He noted that even at the age of 80, Rajiv Dhawan argued in the court for hours together. "We have no words to thank Rajiv Dhawan Sahab. The fact that he took the case and fought in these testing times itself is a big thing," he said. The MP said Kapil Sibal also made his contribution in the case, but the Congress party stopped him from fighting the case. Owaisi said fighting the Babri Masjid case was important as the BJP and Sangh Pariwar have a list of several such mosques. "These organisations are saying they don't have any list. If this is true, then why are they not withdrawing cases for Kashi and Mathura mosques," he asked. Owaisi said all secular parties deceived Muslims. He slammed the Congress for its reaction to the Supreme Court verdict. He said he was fighting against the Congress as it was during its rule that idols were kept in the mosque, its locks were opened and the mosque was demolished. He questioned the silence of so-called secular parties like Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Owaisi asked Muslims not to lose heart over the judgment, saying it's their country and they were first class citizens.  Read: Ayodhya verdict: Six key takeaways from the 1045-page Supreme Court judgment

Hyderabad municipality to set up outdoor air purifiers to battle growing pollution

Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills and Panjagutta localities, that witness peak air pollution spikes during peak traffic hours, have been identified for installing the air purifiers.

In an effort to help Hyderabad breathe easier with air pollution levels spiking in recent weeks, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to set up outdoor air purifying units across select locations in the city. The firm that sent the proposal, Strata Enviro in its first phase intends to provide GHMC with 500 of these units. The GHMC on November 7 approved the firm’s proposal and intends to set up these air purifying units at three locations in the city – Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, and Panjagutta, where air pollution levels spike during peak traffic hours. The air purifiers would pull in polluted air, filter it and release fresh air. Each unit ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs 12 lakh depending on its capacity. As of Sunday, the air quality Index for particulate matter in Hyderabad at different monitoring locations ranged from 91 to 154. The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution. An AQI value over 100 is considered to be unhealthy for certain sensitive groups of people. The managing director of Strata Enviro, Amol Chaphekar, said that the air purifying machines will help bring down air pollution spikes at the locations where they are installed. When asked if the technology works, Anmol responded by saying, "The first two years after forming the company in 2016 went in trying to prove that the technology works. Our air filtering system is patented and has been proven successful in Mumbai and Delhi. In Delhi the air purifiers have been mounted on the buses; when the bus stops due to traffic, the air purifier becomes operational and cleans the air. We even got a grant from the Department of Science after they were satisfied with our project.” They are best located at traffic signals, railway stations and bus stands where maximum number of people are moving around, he added The GHMC has however not yet clarified on how many of these units will be installed, though the firm has suggested 500 units to begin with. “The funding can be done either through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, through Public Private Partnership (PPP) model or fully funded by the municipality, these are the three options of funding we have proposed. It's a sustainable project altogether,” Anmol insists. The operation and maintenance of these air purifiers will be done by the firm on a contract basis. “Our purifiers are designed in a way that the filter needs to be cleaned just once in three months,” he added. However GHMC has kept the Pollution Control Board in the city in the dark with regard to their decision to install these air purifiers. The Chief Environmental Scientist with the Hyderabad PCB, Murali Mohan said, “The GHMC have not consulted us as of now. The location where the pollution is monitored, those locations have to be taken into consideration for installing these units, their performance also should also be monitored. These machines require frequent maintenance for them to be efficient, we have no idea if this works.”

The owner of the wedding hall, identified as Nawaz, has been booked, although he is still absconding.
A wedding in Hyderabad's Amberpet turned into a tragedy on Sunday when the wall of the wedding hall collapsed and killed four people. Of the six guests injured, the condition of one of them is reportedly critical. The incident took place at Pearl Garden function hall at Golnaka in Amberpet around 2 pm when after lunch, the guests were waiting on the other side of the wall, which is used as a parking area, The Hindu reported. In the incident, two auto-rickshaws and 10 two-wheelers were also damaged. Rescue teams of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had soon launched the operation to clear the debris and rescue the victims. The rescue team pulled out the victims — Vijayalaxmi, Krishna, Sohail, Suresh and Majeed — from the debris and rushed them to Osmania General Hospital. While Krishna, Sohail and Suresh succumbed during the treatment, Vijayalaxmi was declared brought dead, according to Deccan Chronicle. The condition of Majeed is critical as he reportedly fractured his left leg, left hand and ribs.    According to The Times of India, the police have registered a case under Section 304A (negligence causing death) against the hall owner, Nawaz, who reportedly is at large. Teams have been formed to nab the accused. According to police, the marriage hall was newly renovated, and Sunday's wedding was the first event after the renovation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the wall collapsed due to poor renovation. Police also said that the renovation was done without permission from the authorities. Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

The incident occurred at Kacheguda Railway Station towards Falaknuma side around 10.30am. While no casualties have been reported, railway police stated to TNM that at least 12 people have been injured and have been shifted to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad.  Chandrasekhar, the driver of the Lingampalli-Falaknuma MMTS train is presently trapped. The Natural Disaster Response Force (NDRF) together with railway officials are carrying out operations to rescue him. Cold-cutting equipments are being used to ensure that Chandrasekhar isn't injured during the course of the rescue.  Visuals from the spot show the engine of the Intercity Express train had a head-on collision with the Lingampalli-Falaknuma MMTS train. Both trains were plying on the same track. South Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Rakesh told the media that it was the MMTS driver’s fault that lead to the collision. “The MMTS train that was to go from Lingampally to Falaknuma was on Platform 2 of Kacheguda station. The plan was that once the Hundry Express, which was to go from Secunderabad to Kurnool, reaches, it would be taken on to Platform 4 and then the MMTS train would depart. The Express train was given the signal and was entering the station, but the locopilot of the MMTS train also started moving before getting the signal,” he said. A statement from South Central Railways stated, "Six coaches of MMTS service and three coaches of Hundry Express have been affected while 12 passengers were injured, they were immediately rushed to Osmania General Hospital out of which two of them were discharged. Senior Railway Officials including Sri B. B. Singh, Addl. General Manager, Chief Security Commissioner, Division Railway Manager, Hyderabad, Chief Medical Director, Chief Safety Officer along with Medical Relief Van and Accident Relief Train rushed to the spot to undertake relief and restoration works. A high-level enquiry will be conducted on the incident." He also added that the impact of the collision was less as the trains were slow. The CPRO said, “One train was at the station, and the other was approaching the station. Because of this, the speed of both trains was very slow. So, the impact was minor and the passengers who were injured — two were seriously injured and 10 others had minor injuries. The 12 were moved immediately to Osmania General Hospital, and two have been discharged so far.” Train services in Kacheguda - Falaknuma section have been affected. It is a joint venture of the South-Central Railway and the Government of Telangana. Earlier in May, two officials from the Southern Railway were suspended after two trains in Tamil Nadu were found to be travelling towards each other on the same track. The disaster was averted after the trains were stopped 10 kilometers apart. The incident took place between Madurai and Sengottai. The Madurai to Sengottai passenger train left from Thirumangalam, shortly after which a train from Sengottai to Madurai was given the departure signal from Kalligudi authorities, who spotted the mix up contacted the loco pilots and instructed them to stop the trains immediately, thereby averting a major disaster.

Accident
Loco pilot L Chandrasekhar was driving the Lingampally-Falaknuma MMTS train that collided with Kurnool-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express on Monday.
After almost eight hours of tireless efforts, the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and accident relief team of the South Central Railway rescued loco pilot L Chandrasekhar, who was driving the Lingampally-Falaknuma MMTS train. He was trapped in the driver's cabin after the train collided with the oncoming Kurnool-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express, at Hyderabad’s Kacheguda station, on Monday.  Officials said that the loco pilot did not suffer any visible injuries but may have suffered a fracture in his left leg. He has been rushed to Care Hospital, Nampally, for treatment. A total of 31 NDRF personnel carried out the rescue operation successfully. The operation began around 12.30 pm and concluded around 6.40 pm. The NDRF was alerted about the accident at 11.15 am and they reached in an hour.  Chandrasekhar being rushed to the ambulance after a 8 hour long rescue op. His left leg had a bleeding injury, apart from that no visible injuries. pic.twitter.com/THnAOimMcj — Bala (@naartthigan) November 11, 2019 NDRF Assistant Commandant J Senthil Kumar told TNM, “We used electric cutters to cut open the cabin. If we had used gas cutters, the cabin would have probably caught fire as there were fibre and other inflammable material inside.” Senthil further explains their eight-hour-long rescue operation, which involved removing four layers of heavy metal to safely pull out the loco pilot.  “During the entire operation, Chandrasekhar cooperated very well. He used to tell if he felt any pain. This communication helped us precisely cut the metals and not harm him unintentionally. We gave him glucose water every 30 minutes, supplied oxygen and gave saline drip to keep him hydrated.”  On Monday, the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train heading to Falaknuma had a head-on collision with the Hundry Express around 10.30 am on the periphery of the Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad. In the accident, 16 persons were injured and were rushed to Osmania General Hospital. Out of the 16 persons, nine have been discharged and the other seven are still availing treatment. The condition of one person is critical, South Central Railway officials said.  Due to the impact of the collision, five coaches of the MMTS and three coaches of the Intercity Express were damaged. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the MMTS loco pilot. The loco pilot proceeded with the journey, though he was not given the signal, the South Central Railway officials said. Fortunately, the impact of the collision was minimal as both the trains were still in the vicinity of the railway station and hence were moving at a low speed. Recalling the accident, Gopal Nishad, an eyewitness who is a ragpicker, said, “I was picking plastic bottles when I saw the Intercity train; but I did not notice the MMTS train approaching on the same track. Then suddenly, I heard a loud noise. When I looked around, I saw some people bleeding. Almost immediately, the police and other staff rushed to the spot and I ran away.” Asad, a resident of Kukatpally, who was returning from Jadcherla in the Intercity Express, suffered minor injuries to his head. “The door hit my head strongly due to the collision. I panicked. I didn’t know what to do and ran away to a safe distance.” Asad’s cousin, Ifran, a resident of Mahabubnagar, was also supposed to travel in the Intercity Express. He takes the same train every day to commute to work in Hyderabad. “Fortunately, I missed the train. But my cousins were on the train, and they told me about the accident while I was on another train,” Ifran said. Meanwhile, South Central Railway authorities said that the Commission of Railway Safety, the body that investigates rail accidents, will conduct a high-level inquiry to establish facts and will give their report by Wednesday.  Due to the incident, 12 MMTS trains, 16 passenger trains and three Express trains were cancelled. Besides, seven trains were diverted and six Express trains were rescheduled. The rail tracks, too, were damaged, and the railway workers are realigning them on war-footing basis.

The video also shows passengers quickly disembarking after the accident, to see what had happened.
CCTV footage, which shows the exact moment a local train rammed into an express train at the Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad on Monday, has surfaced. The Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train rammed into Kurnool City-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express around 10.30 am, which left 16 injured.  The video shows the two trains moving towards each other on the same track, before ramming into each other. The impact of the collision was such that it lifted several bogies of the MMTS trains off the tracks. The passengers are then seen running out of the derailed train after the accident. SCR officials said six coaches of the MMTS train and three coaches of the Hundry Express were affected. The Express train, which was approaching Kacheguda Station had significantly slowed down, while the Lingampally-Falaknuma MMTS train, which was on the same track while departing the station, was moving at a considerable speed. The clip shows the MMTS train slowing down just before impact. Watch the video below. CCTV footage of the Mmts train collision in Kachiguda. pic.twitter.com/IMLO9Di53U — Bala (@naartthigan) November 11, 2019 Though technical error in signalling system was initially believed to have caused the accident, South Central Railway officials later ruled out the possibility. They blamed human error for the collision, with preliminary investigation revealing it was the MMTS locopilot’s fault.  According to a South Central Railway official, the MMTS train that was travelling from Lingampally to Falaknuma was on Platform 2 of Kacheguda Station. Per the schedule, once the Hundry Express (from Secunderabad to Kurnool) reached the station, it would be taken on Platform 4 and then the MMTS train would be given the signal to depart. The Hundry Express train was given the signal and was entering the station. However, the loco pilot of the MMTS train also started moving, although it was given the signal, the official said.  Loco pilot L Chandrasekhar, who was driving the Lingampally-Falaknuma MMTS train, was trapped in the driver's cabin after the train collided. After eight hours of gruelling efforts, rescue workers finally pulled out the loco pilot alive from the mangled motorman cabin of the MMTS train on Monday evening. Personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Accident Relief Team of the South Central Railway (SCR) cut through the cabin with the help of gas cutters to rescue 31-year-old Chandrasekhar, who was later shifted to hospital. Medical teams were supplying the loco pilot oxygen and saline to ensure that he would not fall unconscious. Doctors at the government-run Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad said 16 injured were brought to the hospital and six of them were discharged. A high level inquiry has been ordered into the accident. Read: Hyderabad train collision: MMTS driver stuck in cabin rescued after 8-hour operation (With IANS inputs)

An Air India flight from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam was delayed for nearly 12 hours on Sunday, after a rat was reportedly found on board the plane, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). According to media reports, the flight, which was scheduled to depart at 6 am, only left at around 5.30 pm, after the rat was noticed by a cabin crew member. The engineering department was notified and Air India authorities immediately stepped in to fumigate the entire plane and also conduct a thorough search, for any possible damage to the plane, caused by the rat. Following this, it was granted clearance to fly again. After landing in Visakhapatnam, the plane was scheduled to fly to Delhi. The extreme delay left passengers in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam angry, and some even took to social media, to vent out their frustration. Their demands include merger of TSRTC with the government, so that they are treated at par with other state government employees. However, taking a tough stand, the TRS government has rejected the demand for merger and even announced privatisation of half of the TSRTC routes. The state Cabinet had on November 2 decided to privatise 5,100 bus routes, further angering the employees, who are on strike since October 5. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has rejected the demand for merger saying it will open the floodgates for similar demands by employees of other corporations. Though the Telangana High Court has directed the state government to take the initiative to resolve the employees' demands, no end to the stalemate appears in sight as both sides are sticking to their stand. Train Collision
The loco pilot, Chandrasekhar, has suffered fractured ribs, crush injuries and an injury to his kidney in Monday’s train accident.
The condition of the loco pilot, L Chandrasekhar, who was injured in the train collision in Hyderabad on Tuesday, is critical, said doctors on Tuesday. Chandrasekhar was rescued from the mangled driver’s cabin of the Falaknuma - Lingampally MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) train after a rescue operation that lasted for eight hours. Doctors say L Chandrasekhar has been put on ventilator and he has suffered crush injuries, has polytrauma (condition of a person who has been subjected to multiple traumatic injuries), sustained fractured ribs, besides injury to his kidney.  “He is in hemorrhagic shock for which we are giving him continuous renal replacement therapy. Blood flow in both his legs is low (lower limb ischemia neuro quora neurovascular bundle injury) - for this, we have given him vascular surgery. The treatment is going on, but his condition is critical,” said doctors of Care Hospital, Nampally. The doctors also stated that Chandrasekhar also has internal bleeding. “His urine output has lowered. Probably due to suffocation and shock, he is in a state of acute tubular necrosis condition,” doctors said. Chandrasekhar was rescued after an intense gruelling rescue operation carried out by the National Disaster Response Force and the railway staff which lasted for almost eight hours.  On Monday, the MMTS train driven by loco pilot Chandrasekhar collided with an oncoming Hundry Intercity Express (Kurnool-Secunderabad train) at around 10.30 am near Kacheguda railway station. In the incident, 17 persons, including the loco pilot, suffered injuries. In addition to Chandrasekhar, another patient, identified as Shekar, is also reportedly critical. Both of them are availing treatment at Care Hospital.  According to the South Central Railway’s preliminary inquiry, the accident occurred due to the negligence of Chandrasekhar.  They said that Chandrasekhar did not have the signal to move, but yet he proceeded, ignoring the signal.  A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the incident and Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) is probing the incident. The CRS will submit a detailed report with their findings by Wednesday.  Meanwhile, several trains have been cancelled in Kacheguda railway station owing to the restoration works underway. SCR authorities informed that they have restored the damaged railway tracks. Watch: CCTV footage shows exact moment trains collided in Hyderabad's Kacheguda
