Ganesh allegedly cheated the financier to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs.
Film producer and politician Bandla Ganesh was arrested on Wednesday evening by the Banjara Hills police and handed over to the Andhra Pradesh police. The producer had been booked for cheating a financer. However, as he failed to appear before the court in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him and directed the Banjara Hills to arrest him.
According to police, Ganesh cheated a financer, Mahesh from Kadapa, to the tune of Rs 10 lakh. Ganesh gave Mahesh a cheque of Rs 10 lakh a few months ago, which was dishonoured by the bank following which the latter filed a complaint against him.
A police officer from Banjara Hills police station told The Hindu, “Recently, a Kadapa court issued an NBW against Ganesh for failure to appear before it despite several summons. Then, the court directed us to arrest him.”
Bandla Ganesh is also accused of cheating another financier and producer, PVP (Potluri V Prasad).
According to PVP, Ganesh owes him Rs 7 crore. Ganesh had borrowed Rs 34 crore from Prasad to make Temper, which released in 2015. Though he paid the actual amount, he has been accused of not paying the interest amount.
PVP recently filed a case against him in Jubilee Hills police station when Ganesh sent his men to allegedly intimidate PVP from pursuing the cheating case against him, for which Ganesh filed a counter-complaint with the Banjara Hills police alleging that PVP had threatened of abducting him.
Earlier too, the writer of Temper had accused Ganesh of cheating him by not paying his remuneration of Rs 26 lakhs. In this case, too, Ganesh gave a dishonoured cheque to the writer. Following a case against him, the Erramanzil court punished Ganesh with six months of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 15,86,550 for failing to pay the full remuneration.
