The Congress MP, who was put under house arrest, had outsmarted the police and succeeded in staging a protest at CM KCR’s official residence.
Days after Congress working president A Revanth Reddy hoodwinked the police and managed to protest at Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's official residence, the Malkajgiri MP was booked by the Jubilee Hills police on charges of obstructing policemen from performing their duty.
On Monday, when the Congress party attempted to lay siege to the CM's residence, Pragathi Bhavan, over the ongoing TSRTC strike, Revanth Reddy, along with other key leaders, was put under house arrest. However, Reddy managed to outsmart the police and escaped from detention to partake in the protest at Pragathi Bhavan.
In videos which were widely circulated, Reddy can be seen running while his supporters obstruct the police trying to tackle him. Reddy then is seen zipping away on a motorcycle and later succeeded in staging a protest at Pragathi Bhavan.
Following the complaint from Jubilee Hills police station Sub-Inspector Naveen Reddy, who was on duty at the residence of the Malkajgiri MP, police registered a case under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
A police officer told Deccan Chronicle, “Revanth Reddy and his associates obstructed Naveen Reddy from discharging his duties. Due to their assault and criminal force, he fell on the road and sustained injuries on his left elbow.”
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Asif Nagar, N Narasimha Reddy faced the ire of the Chief Minister for failing to restrain Revanth Reddy from reaching to Pragathi Bhavan. The ACP was attached to the office of the Director General of Police as punishment.
